Writer’s Workshops

The skill of writing is to create a context in which other people can think.
Edwin Schlossberg

Today we set up our writer’s workshop, a small group of students (5) who will share their work with each other online as we work on our own study plan. I’m happy to have a place to share new work and read other students work that might be very different from my own. I think we get in the habit of working with people who might read and write exactly what we do and we lose the desire to read something new.

Today think about how you get in the habit of one genre. Consider reading another genre or writing in another genre. Does it bring up any feelings? For example I don’t read science fiction but it’s very likely that one of my group members will be posting a science fiction piece. To grow as a writer I think that you need to be open to all forms of writing. Happy first day of poetry month…Now get back to work!

Lovingly,
The Writing Nag
