I’ve had a difficult week, the severely cold weather caused pipes to break and flood our restaurant and we will most likely be closed for at least a week and a half. With no money coming in I’ve been dealing with a lot of fear which hasn’t been good for my writing. And although my insurance company assures us “we’re covered” we know that there will be a period of time we will need to financially cover the business and our pay checks. And so I try to listen to friends and family; we will get through it!
My thoughts this morning are on fear and doubt which most writers suffer from. And for many this doesn’t go away even after they’ve been published many times.
As writers we have the fear of success, the fear of failure, the fear of not being good enough, the fear of what family and friends and writing mentors will think of our words.
A friend suggested I journal my fear…what am I most afraid of? By journaling my fear I can leave it behind on the page. I can put aside the fear and work on something positive. What are your doubts and fears as related to your writing process? What holds you back from making a true commitment to living a writing life? How can you overcome these fears? Now get back to work!

Oh my I am so sorry about your restaurant!
Fears..everyday I fear wild unforgiving successes. I know failure and am comfortable there. It is the other that makes my stomach ache and my feet sweat.
