On Thursday, my friend and I went to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science for a behind the scenes tour from a new friend that we met at the writer’s conference. In the Artist’s Way, Julia Cameron talks about taking artists dates, (weekly journeys to places that will inspire your creativity.) If I remember correctly artist dates could be as simple as visiting an art supply store, a poetry reading or a gallery exhibit. While my schedule doesn’t usually allow for weekly artists dates, I’m going to have to work on finding the time for more of them. This visit to the museum was a perfect example of an artist date. The colors, textures, and views at items that are rarely if ever seen was an inspiring way to fill a Thursday.

Think of places close to home that you could visit for the first time. Schedule a weekly artist date every week this summer and see how much this awakens your creativity!
