The Golden Clasp

Sunday is the golden clasp that binds together the volume of the week. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Yesterday was one of those magical early autumn Sunday’s. It was cool in the morning so I actually felt like working in the garden. We picked a huge amount of Concord grapes which means I’ll be making jelly this week. Two years ago we only had enough grapes for one small jar of jelly but this year I’m looking at maybe 8-10 jars. Great homemade gifts for Christmas!

I also picked Roma tomatoes, jalapenos, tomatillos, yellow squash, zucchini and pumpkins. Because I was outside the dogs were content wandering around and grazing in the usually gated raised beds and they didn’t pester me for a walk until I was done. In the afternoon we walked for over an hour at the dog park and then I came home and made a Spinach Salad with Caramelized local pears and Goat Cheese Croutons.
