Under the snow

“Surely as cometh the Winter, I know there are spring violets under the snow.”
 R.H. Newell

Although I have been a member of NaBloPoMo for some time, I don’t think that I have ever successfully posted every day of the month. Since February is a short month and I’m done with school on the 8th of February I thought I’d give it a try. There is a lot to say about February. There is Groundhog Day, Valentine’s Day, Presidents Day, Lincoln and Washington’s Birthday and it’s also the start of Lent. Maybe just having the desire to post everyday will give me something to write about. Certainly sitting down at the keyboard every morning helps me with my other writing so we’ll see. Even though yesterday I wrote about selling some of my books that doesn’t mean that I’m not currently buying books. Two beautiful books I bought this week for my collection. A first edition (1912) The Mary Frances Cookbook: Adventures Among the Kitchen People and a beautifully illustrated children’s book about my favorite season: By the Light of the Harvest Moon (found for 50% off at a local gift shop). The common denominator in both books… anthropomorphic characters! The Mary Frances series has been republished and is available in paperback but I’ve always wanted an original copy and was lucky enough to find one in my price range, that is in very good condition for its age.

Today, check out Duotrope’s deadline calendar for February and choose some contests or markets that you will place on your writing calendar. Now get back to work!

Lovingly,
The Writing Nag
