Honored To Have So Venerable A Neighbor

Still writing and a bit closer to completion of my final paper. The manuscript is slowly coming together but most of my time goes into the context paper so I feel I have abandoned my poetry for awhile. In the meantime I have pictures of Chicago to post, a trip to Ireland to plan, more of my flower garden to plant and lots of work ready for submission  that will have to wait. Yesterday I took 20-30 minutes to browse some of the blogs I used to read regularly and it seems like many bloggers are on vacation or have given up regularly posting. Present company included. It’s difficult to fit in  blogging especially in the summer when it feels more natural to spend much of your time outdoors.

Today a prompt with these ten words pulled from a catalogue:

contemporary, estimated, range, apricot-pink, sailboat, flourish, stunning, gem, sweetly, bright

Using as many of these words as possible start a short story, write an essay or begin a poem. If possible go to a favorite outdoor place to do this exercise. What natural elements could you pull into the creative writing piece? Add at least three sounds and two scents from the outdoors to fill in your piece. Now get back to work!

Lovingly,

The Writing Nag

  1. I've lowered my posting but I'm still blogging three times a week. I'm really concentrating on the MS and that's the reason I began blogging, to write more. ๐Ÿ™‚

Have an awesome weekend! I will get back to work!
